History of GFWC-Foothills Woman’s Club
The GFWC-Foothills Woman’s Club was organized as a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and
the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of South Carolina. The club was Federated on February 22, 2005 and Chartered
on May 24, 2005. We began with 12 charter members. A Baby Shower was held to celebrate the “birth” of the
new club. Lynn Cleckler, GFWC-SC President, installed the officers. Kathy Monahon, GFWC-SC President elect, presented a baby
bottle of M&M’s (the state membership candy) to every member as a welcome to the Federation.
On January 25, 2005 a meeting was held to determine if there was an interest in forming a new federated woman’s
club in the area. Tammy Garland, GFWC-SC Second Vice President spoke about what it means to be part of the General Federation
of Women’s Clubs. A meeting was held on February 22, 2005 at which the club’s name was chosen, officers were elected
, bylaws were formed and aFinance Chairman was appointed.
It was decided that club dues would be $35 ($22 to GFWC-SC, $8 to the club’s general fund and $5 to a hospitality
fund).
